Longevity

Longevity

Of the innumerable benefits of participation in a program like CrossFit, perhaps the most enticing should be the prospect of improved longevity and the elimination for the need of assisted living, a nursing home, and chronic disease. Although this conversation may not resonate as loudly with younger generations, it can provide inducements to the importance of rest days, proper nutrition, mechanics and technique before intensity, and can help assuage the constant temptation of competition within every class, which can become exhausting. Although there is tremendous value in the intensity that a communal environment creates, simply reminding members that at its core, the ultimate goal is improved quality of life and health; that is, improved work capacity over a lifetime. This can often be enough to entice members to care less about the weight on the barbell or the time on the clock, and more about their own personal progress.
